About the role

We're looking for a Safety Graduate to join our Operations team and start a career in construction health and safety.

As part of this role, you will work across a variety of McIlwain projects. This will involve travelling between project sites and, where required, periods of working away from home on DIDO (Drive-In Drive-Out) or FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) projects.

Initially, the successful candidate will spend periods of time at our Mooloolah River Interchange Upgrade Project on the Sunshine Coast, gaining valuable hands‑on experience in a live construction environment while supporting project delivery and safety initiatives.

This is a development role supporting project teams with site inspections, audits, and safety observations. You won't be expected to know everything on day one. You'll be mentored by experienced safety and systems professionals and given real responsibility early on, working across several of our projects rather than being tied to a single site.

What you'll do

- Support project teams with site inspections, audits, and safety observations
- Help prepare and review SWMS, risk assessments, and work packs
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
- Deliver toolbox talks and support site inductions
- Enter and track safety data in our systems and help turn it into reporting




- Help roll out our Critical Risk Management standards on site
- Build working relationships with supervisors, engineers, and site crews across multiple projects

- Someone who wants to learn, asks questions and follows through
- Good communication skills, comfortable talking to crews on site and managers in the office
- Organised enough to juggle priorities across more than one project
- Someone who cares about getting people home safe and backs our values in how they work

Skills and Qualifications

- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (completed, or finishing within the next 6 months)
- General Construction Induction (White Card)
- Current C Class Driver Licence
- Work experience or placement in construction, civil, or another high-risk industry
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 or a safety management system
- First Aid Certificate
