Role Overview

n

The Secondary HSIE Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, high-quality HSIE lessons across the Secondary School. The successful candidate will foster critical thinking, inquiry and a strong understanding of society, history and the world around us, while supporting a diverse range of learners and contributing positively to the academic and pastoral life of the College.

The ability to teach across multiple areas of HSIE is highly desirable, with experience in History, Legal Studies and/or Commerce particularly valued.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and effective HSIE lessons aligned with the NSW curriculum.
n
- Develop learning experiences that foster critical thinking, inquiry, research, analysis and effective communication.
n
- Assess, monitor and evaluate student learning and progress, using data to inform teaching practice.
n




- Provide appropriate differentiation and support to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
n
- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.
n
- Develop positive relationships with students and promote their academic, social and emotional wellbeing.
n
- Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum planning, assessment and whole-school initiatives.
n
- Integrate appropriate technologies and contemporary teaching practices into learning.
n
- Encourage students to engage critically with historical, social, legal, economic and contemporary issues.
n
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, assessment and progress.
n
- Participate in professional learning and contribute to the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning practices.
n
- Uphold the values and ethos of Minarah College and undertake other duties as directed.

Key Selection Criteria & Attributes

n

- Relevant teaching qualifications and current NESA accreditation.
n
- Demonstrated experience teaching HSIE in a secondary school setting.
n
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the NSW HSIE curriculum and effective assessment practices.
n
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and student-centred lessons.
n
- Ability to effectively assess,



monitor and respond to student learning and progress.
n
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with students.
n
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
n
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional learning community.
n
- Commitment to the wellbeing, development and achievement of all students.
n
- Ability to teach across multiple areas of HSIE, particularly History, Legal Studies and/or Commerce (desirable).
n
- Experience working in an independent or faith-based school environment (desirable).
n
- A commitment to the values and ethos of Islamic education.
n
- Enthusiasm, initiative and a genuine passion for HSIE education.
n
- Professionalism, integrity and a commitment to continuous improvement.

- Current NSW Working with Children Check.
