Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Locum ED SRMO to support Emergency Department roster coverage within a regional hospital setting.

This role is ideal for a doctor who wants a change of scenery, regional Emergency Medicine exposure and the chance to work in a welcoming NSW community while completing a short locum block.

You will provide ED SRMO cover across evening shifts, generally running 13:00 – 23:00, supporting patient flow, assessing acute presentations and escalating care appropriately when needed.

Clinical Environment

You will provide ED SRMO cover within Hunter New England LHD.
Regional Emergency Departments offer a broad and rewarding case mix, with exposure to acute medical presentations, trauma, mental health presentations, minor injuries and patients requiring stabilisation or escalation.
You will work with medical, nursing and hospital teams, with escalation pathways available.

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad regional Emergency Department patient mix, including adults, older patients, families, acute medical presentations, trauma, mental health presentations, minor injuries and patients requiring assessment, stabilisation, escalation or ongoing care.

Key Duties

- Assess and manage Emergency Department presentations
- Provide ED SRMO cover across rostered evening shifts




- Support clinical decision-making and patient flow
- Complete clinical documentation and handover
- Escalate care appropriately when required
- Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and hospital teams

Requirements

- Current AHPRA Registration
- Recent Emergency Medicine experience at SRMO level
- Solid clinical judgement and communication skills
- Ability to work safely within scope and escalate appropriately
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
