Our client is a leader in their industry providing mechanical and industrial hardware solutions to retail, industrial, manufacturing and engineering industries across Australia. Due to growth, we are seeking a Spare Parts Manager to join their team in this newly created role.

The Spare Parts Manager will oversee the inventory, ordering, and distribution of replacement components, and lead the parts department staff to ensure smooth department operations.

The role:

Inventory Control

- Track stock levels across all parts categories to ensure accurate, real-time inventory visibility.
- Perform routine physical counts and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Analyse sales data to forecast demand, ensuring fast-moving parts are stocked whilst minimising slow moving/obsolete inventory and implement strategies to prevent part obsolescence.
- Work closely with service and repair teams to supply needed parts quickly and accurately with minimal downtime.
- Ordering and Procurement

- Source OEM and aftermarket parts from qualified suppliers to meet quality and cost requirements.
- Manage relationships with preferred vendors and evaluate new suppliers as needed.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to control costs and maintain supply reliability.

Team Leadership

- Hire, train, and supervise department staff, including counter sales and warehouse workers.




- Set performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and support ongoing staff development.
- Foster a safe, organized, and productive parts department work environment.

Financial Oversight

- Manage the department sales performance, P&L; and budgets, including procurement, performance and staffing costs.
- Track profitability and identify opportunities to improve margins, competitive pricing and reduce waste.

Sales Planning

- Develop short, medium and long-term sales strategies, promotional campaigns, and business development initiatives to capture a larger market share.
- Nurture key accounts, commercial clients, and dealer networks to drive repeat business and resolve complex client inquiries.
- Maintain CFM, customer data and contractual requirements.

What we're looking for:

- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a parts department or automotive/industrial environment, plus prior supervisory background.
- Ability to travel interstate to Branches as required
- Drivers licence
- Previous experience managing department budgets, pricing, and margins with a solid grasp of inventory valuation methods.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components, equipment specs,



and digital inventory systems.
- Clear verbal and written skills for vendor negotiations and cross-departmental coordination.
- Ability to manage supply chain delays and handle customer service issues promptly.
- Strong knowledge of freight, customs, demand forecasting, and vendor performance to keep parts flowing reliably.
- Adaptable to change and drive continuous improvement in processes, layouts, and product knowledge.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
