Job Description

The Tiler (Caulking Specialist) is responsible for completing professional tiling, caulking and

joint-sealing work across residential and commercial construction projects. The position

n

requires surfaces to be properly prepared and all work completed accurately, safely and to the

n

required quality standards.

n

Key duties and responsibilities

n

n
- Measuring and marking surfaces and laying out work before installation.
n
- Preparing wall and floor surfaces by removing existing tiles, grout and adhesive.
n
- Spreading adhesive onto prepared surfaces and tiles and setting tiles into position.
n
- Ensuring tiles are correctly aligned, levelled and evenly spaced.
n
- Grouting tiled surfaces and cleaning and removing excess grout.
n
- Repairing or replacing damaged or defective tiles.
n
- Ensuring completed tiling work meets plans, specifications and applicable quality standards.
n

Caulking and joint-sealing duties

n

n
- Inspecting and preparing joints and surfaces before applying sealants.
n
- Removing existing or damaged silicone, sealant and joint materials.
n
- Cleaning joints and removing dust, moisture, debris and other contaminants.
n
- Installing backing rod and other joint-filling materials where required.
n
- Selecting suitable sealants and application methods for each surface and workplace.
n
- Applying silicone, polyurethane,



acrylic and other sealants to internal and external joints.
n
- Caulking bathrooms, kitchens, laundries, wet areas, windows, doors, brickwork, cladding, flooring and construction joints.
n
- Sealing expansion, control and movement joints.
n
- Masking surrounding surfaces to achieve clean and accurate finishes.
n
- Tooling and finishing sealant joints to achieve the required profile and appearance.
n
- Following product specifications, curing requirements and manufacturer instructions.
n

- Calculating material quantities and minimising unnecessary waste.
n
- Operating hand tools, power tools and specialist equipment safely.
n
- Maintaining tools, equipment and work vehicles in a clean and serviceable condition.
n
- Protecting surrounding surfaces and completed work from damage.
n
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and free from hazards.
n
- Reporting defects, site issues, safety hazards and material shortages promptly.
n
- Completing work within allocated timeframes and to company quality standards.
n
- Following all company policies, site rules and lawful directions.
n
- Wearing required personal protective equipment and complying with workplace health and safety requirements.
n

Performing other reasonable duties related to tiling, waterproofing, caulking and
