Bathurst Health Service is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Staff Specialist Geriatrician to join its growing Aged Care and Older Persons Multidisciplinary Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist clinical leadership while helping shape and develop contemporary geriatric services across the Bathurst Health Service.
The successful specialist will work with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes for older people experiencing frailty, cognitive impairment, complex comorbidities, functional decline and other age-related syndromes.
The role may also incorporate aspects of General Medicine, as required.
About the Role As Staff Specialist Geriatrician, you will provide specialist assessment, clinical care and leadership for older patients with complex medical and functional needs.
You will work closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary team comprising:

- Clinical Nurse Consultant – Aged Care
- ASET Registered Nurse
- Clinical Nurse Specialist – Discharge Planner
- Clinical Nurse Specialist – AARCS
- Social Worker

Together, the team provides comprehensive geriatric assessment, proactive intervention, discharge planning and coordinated care to support safe transitions from hospital to home or residential aged care.
Key responsibilities will include:

- Providing comprehensive geriatric assessment and specialist consultation
- Participating in multidisciplinary ward rounds and case conferences
- Supporting patient-centred and family-inclusive care
- Providing clinical leadership in the development of geriatric services
- Mentoring and educating medical, nursing and allied health professionals




- Contributing to quality improvement and clinical governance
- Driving service innovation and contemporary models of care
- Supporting improved patient outcomes and patient flow
- Contributing to reduced length of stay and effective discharge planning

About You You will be a collaborative and patient-focused specialist with a commitment to improving healthcare for older people.
You will have:

- FRACP with specialist recognition in Geriatric Medicine
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Strong clinical experience in the assessment and management of older patients with complex needs
- A collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to patient care
- An interest in service development, education and quality improvement
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- A commitment to innovation and patient-centred care
