On this occasion, we are seeking a Pest Management Officer to join the amazing team at Redland City Council on Brisbane's bayside until May 2027 initially. In this role, you will implement pest management functions to meet service delivery requirements, utilising acquired knowledge, judgement and organisational skills in the planning, implementation and monitoring of effective service delivery. This will include, but is not limited to:

- Surveying the Redlands for biosecurity and public health risks associated with designated pests, mosquito breeding, vermin harbourage and biosecurity matter (including Fire Ants).
- Systematic and/or proactive inspections for biosecurity matter and mosquito breeding.
- Safe usage, transportation, storage and disposal of pesticides and other pest control products in accordance with legislative requirements and to achieve a satisfactory outcome.
- Undertaking monitoring and research,



treatment and identification programs in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
- Collection and recording of data (using technology) and the preparation of reports.
- Using specialised equipment in accordance with operating procedures, Council Health and Safety guidelines. This includes ensuring that they are regularly maintained, in good working condition and are conducive to a safe working environment in order to achieve resource efficiency.

Essential Criteria

1. Pest Management Technicians Licence
2. Manual Drivers' Licence

Desirable Criteria

1. Well developed knowledge and understanding of pest management, chemical handling and safety, fire ant and mosquito control technology and best practice protocols, relevant health and environmental issues and regulatory requirements to achieve service delivery. Including experience in the interpretation and application of legislation applicable to the pest management functions.
2. Demonstrated experience in undertaking and participating in a range of technical tasks and projects relating to pest management such as habitat modification, pest surveillance & treatment and vermin control and biosecurity matter (fire ant) control.



This includes the operation of specialised field equipment associated with these tasks or projects.
3. Demonstrated experience in Workplace Health and Safety compliance associated with the functions of the position including the application of pest management products and the use of associated equipment.
4. Well developed written communication skills and computer skills to draft and prepare quality detailed documents and correspondence.
5. Well developed and demonstrated organisational, time management and prioritisation skills with proven track record in meeting deadlines.
6. Excellent verbal communication, community and customer service skills, with a proven track record in negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders so as to effectively deal with sensitive issues.
7. Well developed team skills in supporting and promoting a harmonious, safe and rewarding workplace that performs to meet its service delivery, with a high degree of flexibility to ensure team objectives are achieved.
8. Recreational Shipmaster Licence, or the ability to obtain within 3 months
9. Licence to Operate a forklift Class LF
10. First Aid Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 3 months
11. VHF marine radio Licence, or the ability to obtain within 3 months
12. ”Elements of Shipboard Safety” qualification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
13. Marine Licence Coxswains GR-2, or the ability to obtain within 12 months
