ROLE – Mechanical Designer

SALARY - $110,000 - $140,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – Central Victoria

My client designs and manufactures bespoke heavy vehicle equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their team in central Victoria on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Designer will ideally have the following attributes:

- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design or Drafting position
- Previous experience designing heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or similar equipment
- Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, Inventor or similar
- Experience designing fabricated components, sheet metal and structural steel
- Good understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
- Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
- Robust practical and hands-on approach to design
- Experience working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams
- Able to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines




- Able to maintain technical documentation and BOMs
- Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

The Mechanical Designer role will involve:

- Using 3D CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
- Designing components and assemblies for heavy vehicles and equipment
- Producing detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings
- Updating 3D models and engineering drawings
- Working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams
- Liaising with suppliers and external manufacturing providers
- Creating and maintaining BOMs and technical documentation
- Supporting the full design process from concept through to production
- Assisting with prototype builds, testing and final assembly
- Checking drawings and designs prior to manufacture
- Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
