Job Title: Solution Architect

Location: Gungahlin, ACT (Canberra-based only)
Employment Type: 12 month contract (asap - 30th September 2027)
Hourly Rate: $170-$180 per hour + super

About the Role:

The Solution Architect will support this organisation's digital transformation, delivering seamless digital experiences for students and staff while supporting a net zero future.The Solution Architect will develop and assure solution architecture deliverables that support a transition from legacy platforms to contemporary Cloud solutions. You'll partner with Cloud Program teams, business SMEs, technical experts across wider ACT Government, and vendor partners to ensure solution designs are practical, secure, compliant, and aligned with business outcomes and whole-of-government architecture principles.

This is a hands-on architecture role with real scope for impact, spanning solution design, integration architecture, data migration and archival architecture, and architecture governance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop conceptual solution designs, integration designs, architecture decision briefs and technical statements of work for Cloud initiatives
- Define API-led, event-driven and integration patterns consistent with whole-of-government standards
- Develop end-to-end data migration and archival architectures, ensuring compliance with the Territory Records Act, ACT Government records requirements and privacy obligations




- Present architecture proposals to whole-of-government and Cloud governance forums
- Identify and manage technical risks, architecture debt and design deviations
- Ensure solutions are secure by design and aligned with ACT Government cyber security standards

About You:

- Demonstrated experience developing solution architectures for large, complex ICT transformation programs
- Experience designing integration architectures using API-led, event-driven and service integration patterns
- Experience developing data migration and archival architectures for cloud transitions
- A track record operating within architecture governance frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills
- A degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline

Desirable:

- Experience in Identity and Access Management, Student Information Systems, CRM platforms, Microsoft Azure, integration platforms (e.g. MuleSoft), or cloud-native architectures
- Experience in higher education, VET or public sector environments
- TOGAF certification or equivalent
