Job description

The Role

Agri Labour Australia is seeking a skilled and reliable Irrigation Hand to support irrigation operations on an almond farm in Darlington Point, NSW. Working within the horticulture and almond production industry, you will join a practical irrigation team in a busy outdoor agricultural environment. This hands-on role involves irrigation repairs and installations, headland checks, routine maintenance, fertiliser mixing and monitoring water systems to support efficient orchard operations.

Key Responsibilities

You will work closely with the irrigation team to maintain reliable water delivery across the orchard. Your focus will be on identifying faults, completing repairs and preventative maintenance, and helping irrigation systems operate safely and efficiently.

- Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems, including piping, valves and sprinkler heads
- Complete headland checks and inspect irrigation infrastructure
- Drive a farm utility vehicle to complete checks across the orchard
- Diagnose and repair damaged or malfunctioning irrigation equipment
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Adjust irrigation systems to support efficient water coverage and distribution
- Program and troubleshoot irrigation controllers and automated systems where required
- Assist with the mixing and application of fertilisers in line with procedures
- Support sprinkler system repairs and new installations
- Monitor water delivery and identify leaks, faults or performance issues
- Assist with basic plumbing and irrigation-related maintenance




- Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used
- Follow workplace health and safety and environmental procedures
- Operate irrigation tools and equipment safely
- Perform other farm and irrigation duties as required

Your Skills & Experience

- Previous irrigation installation or maintenance experience highly regarded
- Experience with sprinkler, drip, manual or automated irrigation systems
- Current driver's licence - essential
- Telehandler operating experience highly preferable
- Irrigation certification preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of water management and water conservation principles
- Ability to diagnose irrigation faults and complete practical repairs
- Experience using irrigation tools and equipment
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems highly regarded
- Ability to safely mix and handle fertilisers
- Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills
- Reliable and able to work effectively within a team
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Comfortable working outdoors in an agricultural environment
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
