Western District Health Service is seeking an experienced and passionate Nurse Unit Manager to join the leadership team at Coleraine Campus.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a nursing leader who is ready to influence clinical excellence, workforce development and service delivery while making a genuine difference in a close-knit rural community.

As Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across acute and residential aged care services, supporting a team of ANUMs, Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Health Care Workers and administration staff. You will play a pivotal role in creating a positive workplace culture, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and person-centred care.

Coleraine Campus provides care across 10 acute beds and 51 residential aged care beds, offering a diverse and meaningful leadership opportunity within a supportive rural setting.

What You'll Be Doing

Clinical Leadership

Provide visible and effective leadership across acute and residential aged care services, ensuring safe, high-quality and evidence-based care delivery.





Strategic & Operational Management

Support the strategic development of nursing services, contribute to service planning and ensure organisational goals are translated into effective ward-level practice.

Workforce Leadership

Lead workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, rostering, performance management and staff development activities across the service.

Quality, Safety & Clinical Governance

Drive quality improvement activities, monitor clinical standards, manage incidents and support compliance with accreditation, legislative and infection prevention requirements.

Financial & Resource Management

Contribute to budget management, workforce utilisation and resource planning to support efficient and sustainable service delivery.

Team Development & Culture

Foster a positive, collaborative and accountable workplace culture while supporting professional growth and leadership development across the team.

What You Bring

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent relevant qualification
- Minimum five years post-graduate nursing experience
- Demonstrated leadership and staff management experience
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality and safety frameworks
- Experience in workforce planning, staffing and performance management
- Excellent communication, coaching and relationship-building skills
- Sound financial and resource management capability
- Experience in aged care is highly desirable
- Current Driver's Licence
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Rights to work in Australia
