We're looking for a Financial Accountant to join our team and work closely with our Senior Finance Manager.

About The Role

The Financial Accountant is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring Kitchen Warehouse's financial transactions, reconciliations, statutory obligations and month-end processes are completed accurately, efficiently and on time.

Reporting to our Senior Finance Manager and working closely with our wider Finance team, including our offshore team, this role will help maintain strong financial controls and provide accurate financial information across the business.

We are looking for someone who doesn't simply maintain existing processes. They will be curious about how things can be done better and will actively embrace technology, automation and AI to simplify work, improve accuracy and make our Finance function more efficient.

Put simply, we want someone who enjoys doing the work and improving the way the work gets done.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Financial Accounting & Month End

- Complete key month-end activities including journals, accruals and reconciliations.
- Own assigned balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are investigated and resolved.
- Maintain accurate working papers and supporting financial records.
- Support the Senior Finance Manager with timely and accurate month-end and year-end reporting.

Cash, Banking & Payments





- Complete and oversee key banking and credit card reconciliations.
- Support supplier payments, company banking, foreign currency and trade finance activities.
- Maintain appropriate controls around new vendors and changes to supplier bank details.
- Support cash flow reporting and monitoring.

Tax & Compliance

- Prepare and support BAS, IAS, payroll tax, PAYG, superannuation and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate supporting reconciliations and records.
- Help ensure our obligations are completed accurately and on time.

Payroll & Financial Controls

- Work collaboratively with Payroll and Finance to maintain strong financial controls around payroll.
- Review payroll financial information and investigate material variances.
- Complete relevant wages, superannuation and payroll tax reconciliations.

Year End & Audit

- Support year-end close and preparation of financial working papers.
- Assist with audit requirements and auditor queries.
- Help keep our financial records and processes audit-ready throughout the year.

Systems, AI & Process Improvement

- Question inefficient or unnecessarily manual processes and look for better ways of doing things.
- Use our systems, automation tools and AI appropriately to reduce repetitive work, improve accuracy and make Finance more efficient.
- Work with our Finance and Technology teams to improve and automate processes.
- Help maintain explicit, current procedures so important knowledge isn't sitting with just one person.

Team Collaboration

- Work collaboratively with the Senior Finance Manager, CFO, Australian and offshore Finance teams and other teams across Kitchen Warehouse.
- Provide practical support and respond to finance queries in a timely manner.
- Build effective relationships based on trust, accuracy and reliability and be willing to challenge respectfully when the facts suggest there may be a better way.

What we're looking for

First and foremost, you're an accountant who likes accounting.

You're comfortable getting into a reconciliation, investigating why something doesn't balance and following it through until you've found the answer.



You're organised, disciplined and don't need to be chased to meet a deadline.

At the same time, you don't accept "we've always done it this way" as a particularly compelling reason for keeping a process.

You'll also bring:

- Strong financial accounting experience in a commercial environment.
- Hands-on experience with month-end, journals, balance sheet reconciliations and statutory reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with ERP/accounting systems.
- A genuine interest in technology, automation and AI and how they can make Finance better.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A collaborative style and the confidence to communicate with both finance and non-finance teammates.
- A willingness to take ownership and see things through.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated financial accounting experience in a commercial environment.
- Strong Excel and ERP/accounting-system capability; Net Suite experience would be advantageous
- Experience working in a private, family-owned, mid-market business environment, ideally within retail, eCommerce or a multi-site organisation, would be advantageous
- Demonstrated experience using technology, automation or AI to improve finance processes would be highly regarded.
