About the role
This is a new role with an open brief. You'll find and win current bulk haulage work across three areas: ore, concentrate and processed product for mining; aggregates and bulk materials for civil and infrastructure projects; and any other suitable bulk haulage. Within 12 months, success means a qualified pipeline across all three sectors, new contracts or campaigns won, and partnerships that let us bid for bigger work than we could win alone. Expect long sales cycles. Tenders can take many months to land, so you'll need to keep smaller campaigns and direct deals moving while the big ones play out.
Key responsibilities
- Track mining projects, civil projects and infrastructure programs early, and position us before tenders are released.
- Build relationships with mine owners, engineering and civil contractors and other bulk operators and procurement teams.
- Lead prequalifications, expressions of interest (EOIs) and tenders, bringing together pricing, safety documentation and methodology.
- Build haul cost models and rate structures with operations, including route assessments on the Restricted Access Vehicle (RAV) network.
- Find and develop partnerships, joint ventures and subcontract arrangements with other operators, such as pairing our fleet,
contractor management and platform with a partner's local operations and customers.
- Keep the CRM and a weighted pipeline current, and report monthly to leadership.
- Share leads with our Containers & General Freight BDM (also a current role).
About you
- At least 5 years in BD, estimating or commercial roles in bulk haulage, mining services, civil contracting or agricultural logistics.
- Contracts you won through competitive tenders, and the ability to explain your part in each.
- Experience building haulage cost models or rate schedules.
- A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel regionally.
- An established network across WA mining, civil, or grain and fertiliser supply chains.
- Working knowledge of WA Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (WAHVA), the RAV network, mass management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
- Experience setting up partnering, JV or subcontract arrangements.
- Experience with client prequalification portals and contract terms such as rise-and-fall.
Benefits
- A real say in which markets, partners and tenders we pursue.
- Direct access to Senior leadership and quick decisions, no red tape.
- Attractive bonus remuneration.
