Principal Coordinator Infrastructure Design

The Opportunity

A Regional Queensland Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer to join its Infrastructure Services team as Principal Coordinator Infrastructure Design.

This is a key technical and leadership position responsible for the planning, design, management and delivery of Council infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Manager Assets and Technical Services and leading six direct reports, you will provide professional engineering advice and technical leadership across roads, bridges, drainage and other public infrastructure.

Council is highly selective with this appointment and is seeking a Civil Engineer who clearly meets the mandatory requirements and can demonstrate contemporary leadership capability, strong technical judgement and a proven record of delivering quality infrastructure outcomes.

About the Role

You will coordinate the engineering aspects of internal and external infrastructure works, providing technical leadership across planning, design, construction and asset management.





Key responsibilities include:

- Providing professional engineering advice across infrastructure planning, design, construction and operational works
- Preparing and reviewing construction plans, engineering calculations, specifications, estimates and technical documentation
- Managing infrastructure projects and consultants to achieve scope, budget, quality and program requirements
- Investigating and providing solutions for the maintenance, repair and construction of Council infrastructure
- Undertaking specialist assessments including bridge inspections, road safety audits, heavy vehicle route assessments and traffic management design
- Supervising, mentoring and developing a team of six technical staff
- Supporting infrastructure funding applications and associated reporting
- Contributing to asset management, surveying and Technical Services planning
- Developing and improving engineering procedures, systems and work practices
- Representing Council with government agencies, consultants, industry, community members and other stakeholders

About You

You are an experienced Civil Engineer who combines strong technical capability with the leadership skills to set expectations,



develop staff and deliver quality infrastructure outcomes.

You will bring:

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure planning and design
- Strong project management and asset management experience
- Experience across civil infrastructure such as roads, bridges and drainage
- Knowledge and experience in surveying and engineering design
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a team in an environment of change
- Ability to establish priorities, manage competing demands and meet deadlines
- Robust capability using engineering, survey and design software, GIS and Microsoft Office
- Ability to provide high-quality professional engineering advice to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Current Queensland C Class manual Driver Licence
- Current Queensland General Safety Induction White or Blue Card
