About the Role

At Active Kids Group we are seeking a passionate and experienced Cook to join our dynamic team at Rose Bay Cottage. We are a small gem that caters for 40chn and located in the eastern suburbs.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children aged 6 weeks to 6years.

You will play a key role in supporting children’s health and wellbeing by following best practice nutrition standards and contributing to a positive mealtime environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced meals and snacks for children in line with centre requirements

- Follow the Munch & Move guidelines when developing menus and food offerings

- Ensure all meals meet dietary, cultural, allergy, and intolerance requirements

- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness in accordance with regulations

- Manage food ordering, stock control, and budget considerations

- Develop seasonal menus that encourage healthy eating habits in children

- Work collaboratively with educators to support positive mealtime experiences

- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety legislation and childcare regulations

About You

- Experience as a cook in a childcare, education, or similar setting (preferred)

- Sound knowledge of children’s nutritional needs and healthy menu planning

- Understanding of the Munch & Move program or willingness to learn

- Knowledge of food safety standards and safe kitchen practices

- Ability to cater for a wide range of dietary requirements including allergies and cultural needs





- Strong organisational and time management skills

- A warm, friendly approach and genuine passion for working with children

- Relevant food handling certificate (or willingness to obtain)

What We Offer

- We are proud to be part of the Australian Government's Worker Retention Payment program. Eligible team members will receive an extra 10% on top of award rates from December 2024, with an additional 5% starting December 2025. This funding is fully supported by the government until November 2026.
