About the Role

Goodwin is looking for an experienced Café Manager to lead our Café. You’ll create a welcoming place for residents, families, employees and visitors while keeping the café running smoothly, safely and sustainably.

This is a hands-on management role. You’ll lead the team during busy service periods and functions, with dedicated time to manage rosters, finances, compliance and reporting. Working with the Head Chef, Catering Operations Manager and Village Manager, you’ll help shape a café experience that reflects resident preferences and village life.

What you’ll do

- Oversee daily café operations, including opening and closing, food and beverage service, customer enquiries and presentation standards.
- Lead, roster and develop café employees and chefs through coaching, feedback and clear expectations.
- Work with the Head Chef on menus, product quality, food presentation and dietary needs.




- Coordinate service for functions, events and resident activities.
- Build relationships with residents and patrons, seek feedback, resolve concerns and improve the customer experience.
- Manage ordering, stock, invoices, cash handling and POS processes.
- Monitor revenue, costs and wastage; investigate variances and take action to meet agreed financial and service targets.
- Provide accurate monthly performance reports to the Catering Operations Manager.
- Maintain food safety, HACCP, allergen management, cleaning and work health and safety standards.

What you’ll bring

- Experience managing a café, hospitality, catering or food service operation.
- The ability to lead a team while staying actively involved in service.
- Solid customer service skills and a respectful approach to working with older people.
- Confidence with rostering, stock control, POS systems and financial reporting.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, dietary requirements and allergen management.
- A relevant certificate qualification or extensive demonstrated management experience, along with current food safety training.
- A Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate is required where alcohol service forms part of the café operation. Relevant background checks and clearances may also be required.
