A Word From Ken, The Owner.

I'm Ken, a second-generation sparky. I started my apprenticeship in Dublin and have been running Kmelectric in Sydney's Inner West since 2008.

We're a family-run business based in Dulwich Hill, and we're growing. This role exists because I can't be on every job any more. I'm after an experienced licensed electrician who can run a job on his own, look after the customer and take pride in the finished work. We work as a team that gets along, and I want someone who fits that.

On the money: $48 is the starting point. $55 is for someone who can walk onto a job from day one, run it start to finish and not need me on the phone.

The work

You'll handle installations, switchboard upgrades, fault-finding, smoke alarms and EV chargers across homes, apartments and commercial properties.

Our jobs are mostly in the Inner West and Inner Sydney. You'll take the van home and start on site at 7:30 am.

You'll manage jobs from arrival through to testing, tidy-up and handover, keeping the customer informed along the way.

We are also in the Security trade, so the option is available for you to learn about CCTV, Alarms & Intercoms

How we work

We work as a team that gets along. If you need a second opinion, someone picks up the phone. If a job gets difficult, you have backup.

An apprentice works alongside you on the bigger jobs.

Admin handles bookings, invoicing and chasing clients, so that work doesn't follow you home.

Your van is stocked before you leave and the test equipment is there and working. You won't lose half a morning at the wholesaler.

We're straightforward with each other, we recognise good work, and we deal with problems directly. When something comes up at home, we work around it.

What matters to us is simple.



Turn up, work safely, do the job properly and treat the customer's place like it's your own.

Room to progress

Once you're settled, you'll take an apprentice on your jobs and run your own work end to end.

There's a path to leading hand for someone who shows the skill and the judgement for it. You'd stay on the tools, with a real say in how the work gets planned and done.

What you get

- $48–$55 per hour + super

- $1,000 bonus on passing your three-month probation

- Uniform, PPE and test equipment supplied

- Full time, ongoing role with a 38-hour week.

- Optional weekend callouts, paid separately. Say no, and it won't be held against you

- Paid ongoing training

- Flexibility when family or personal matters come up

What you'll bring

- A current NSW electrical licence or overseas licence (Must be residing in Sydney)

- At least three years post-licence experience

- Confidence in fault-finding and running jobs independently

- Safe work practices and a tidy standard of work

- Clear communication with customers, apprentices and the team

- An Australian driver's licence, White Card and your own hand tools

EWP, Working at Heights, high-rise or EV charger experience would be useful, but isn't essential.
