We are seeking an experienced Garment Technician to join our team in a casual capacity. This hands-on role will support a range of Schoolwear garments, ensuring each product is technically accurate, commercially practical and delivered to agreed quality, cost and timing standards.

About the role

You will translate design intent into accurate garment specifications and support fit, construction, quality and supplier coordination. You will work closely with design, pattern making, sample room, sales, planning and customer service teams to keep garment technical activities moving accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

- Manage Schoolwear garment, fabric, trim and accessory specifications from brief through to production ready status.

- Translate design concepts into transparent, technically accurate and manufacturable products.

- Prepare and maintain technical packs, bills of materials, measurement specifications, construction details, sketches/flats, costings and supplier information.

- Review samples for fit, measurements and construction, documenting required corrections and confirming compliance with approved specifications.

- Oversee quality control for all prototype samples, ensuring fit, measurements, construction, workmanship and specifications meet required standards before approval.

- Monitor sample status, approvals, technical priorities,



critical paths and delivery risks.

- Work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical, quality, cost and timing issues.

About you

- Strong knowledge of fabrics and garment construction is essential, including an understanding of trims, fit, quality and manufacturing processes.

- Demonstrated ability to interpret designs and specifications and identify practical production solutions.

- Sound understanding of garment technical workflows, costing, sampling, fit approvals and quality assurance.

- Excellent attention to detail and confidence maintaining accurate product and production information.

- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is advantageous.

- Strong planning, problem-solving and supplier communication skills.

- Ability to prioritise effectively and work across multiple products and deadlines in a hands-on environment.

Highly regarded (but not essential)

- Experience using AP21.

- Experience using Lectra or StyleCad software is advantageous.

- Experience in Schoolwear, uniforms or apparel manufacturing.
