Council is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Technical Officer to join our Infrastructure Services team.

This role is responsible for undertaking inspections, condition assessments and data collection activities across Council's infrastructure network. You will play a key role in ensuring asset information is accurate, defects are identified and reported, and maintenance and renewal programs are supported through reliable field data.

Working across a diverse range of assets, you will contribute to the effective management of roads, bridges, culverts, stormwater infrastructure, footpaths, lighting and other Council assets.

Key Responsibilities

- Undertake programmed inspections, condition assessments and data collection activities for roads, bridges, culverts, stormwater, footpaths, lighting, gravel pits, water sources, gates, grids and associated infrastructure assets

- Undertake Level 1 bridge and major culvert inspections in accordance with relevant standards.

- Identify, assess and report asset defects, risks and maintenance requirements, including third-party assets, to support prioritisation of maintenance, renewal and improvement works

- Accurately capture, maintain and manage asset condition data, inspection records, defect registers and asset information within Council’s asset management systems, GIS platforms and associated databases, ensuring data quality, consistency and completeness

- Assist in the development and validation of maintenance and renewal programs, including resealing, re-sheeting and other asset renewal activities, through the provision of accurate field data and technical information

- Program and undertake traffic counts and other asset-related data collection activities to support infrastructure planning and decision-making

- Assist with the administration and inspection of Minor Works on Roads applications, including maintaining associated registers, records and GIS mapping





- Provide technical support to the Infrastructure Services team and liaise with landholders, contractors and stakeholders regarding inspections, defects, asset conditions and access requirements

- Contribute to the promotion of the image of the Council and the maximisation of good public relations

- Liaise with clients, other Council staff, the public, consultants, utility and government authorities in the performance of duties, including providing and obtaining information

- Undertake routine administrative tasks as required by the position, e.g. timesheets

- Assist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop current practices, as required

- Participate in training, exercises and response to disaster management and recovery as required

About You

Compulsory Requirements

- Queensland ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence (minimum requirement – provisional licence)

- QLD General Safety Induction – White or Blue Card.

Desirable Requirements

- Relevant experience and/or qualifications in Civil Construction and Field Data Capture

- Traffic Management Implementation Plan Competency

- Traffic Controller Competency.
