About the role

The Senior Network Organiser with Solutions for Climate WA is a new position, which will develop and maintain strong relationships with climate-focused individuals and local and sectoral organisations in Western Australia. You will lead the development and implementation of shared priorities and climate advocacy activities in order to build a strong, diverse and powerful network focused on helping WA boldly advance climate action and the clean energy transition by establishing, supporting and growing the network through coordination, networking, re-granting of donor funds, skills development and facilitation. This is a dynamic and key role in a team of peers, which will take on significant responsibility for shaping the activities and success of this key part of our work. You will be part of a high energy, innovative advocacy team that seeks to position Western Australia as a leader in climate solutions. You are a proactive operator who will contribute superior people and organising skills to a small high performing team focused on advocacy, convening and strategic partnerships.

Key responsibilities

- Design, implement and maintain a Climate and Clean Energy Community Network Plan for WA

- Develop a budget and manage spending to budget

- Recruit, develop and supervise a small number of staff, contractors and volunteers as needed

- Identify prospective individuals and organisations (community based and sectoral) particularly in but not limited to the greater Perth metro area, with occasional regional engagement

- Facilitate the engagement and skills development of the individuals and organisations

- Develop and administer proposals for regranting of funds to network member organisations





- Lead the organising of events and other engagement activities

- Maintain positive and value-adding relationships with the growing network

- Inspire and organise advocacy opportunities of these networks related to WA's clean energy transition and progress on climate change

- Integrate the emerging power of the community network with the policy development, advocacy and communications work of the Solutions for Climate WA team and their partner organisations

About you

- Minimum 5 years experience working in roles involving active networking, facilitation and training of community members and organisations around a common objective

- An understanding of community organising principles and how engaged communities build power to make change in Australia's democratic system of governance

- Experience with and comfortable taking a leadership role when needed, and actively fostering leadership in others

- Passionate about making positive social change through facilitating community engagement with the political system

- A general understanding of WA's political environment and how governments operate, and climate science and the economic, social and environmental impacts and policy opportunities to tackle human-induced climate change

- Experience working at a senior level which requires a high degree of independence

- Strong outreach and interpersonal skills





- Ability to collaborate well in a professional setting

- Excellent time management, initiative, prioritisation, and communication skills

- A Class C drivers license
