Build your career in workplace relations and investigations
Red Wagon Workplace Solutions is seeking an early-career HR Consultant to join our Adelaide team.
This role is particularly suited to someone who is interested in employee relations, workplace relations and investigations and wants to build strong technical capability in these areas.
Our work is weighted towards workplace issues rather than recruitment. You’ll work on real client matters involving performance and conduct, grievances, workplace investigations, Modern Awards, classifications, workplace compliance and other employee and industrial relations matters.
For this role, years of experience matter less than how you think.
You might be completing or have recently completed a Diploma in Human Resource Management, or already have some experience in HR administration, coordination, payroll or a junior HR role.
What matters is curiosity, sound judgement, attention to detail, willingness to learn and the ability to take feedback and apply it.
This is not primarily an HR administration role or a traditional graduate program. You’ll contribute to client work from the outset, with experienced practitioners around you as your capability and independence develop.
What you’ll work on
Your work will be varied and may include:
- employee relations matters involving performance, conduct, absenteeism, grievances and complaints
- workplace investigations, including evidence review, interview preparation, interviews, evidence analysis and report drafting
- workplace relations and HR advice
- Modern Award interpretation, classifications and employment conditions
- workplace compliance, payroll remediation and audit work
- employment contracts, letters, policies and other workplace documentation
- ongoing support for managed HR services clients
- research and analysis for workplace reviews and broader consulting projects.
As your knowledge and judgement develop, you’ll progressively take greater ownership of client work and manage defined matters more independently.
About you
You don’t need to arrive as a finished HR practitioner.
We are interested in someone who:
- has a genuine interest in employee relations, workplace relations and investigations
- communicates clearly and professionally
- writes well and pays attention to detail
- enjoys researching and working through problems
- can analyse information rather than simply process it
- asks good questions and is comfortable saying when they don’t know something
- takes responsibility for the quality of their work
- accepts feedback and applies it
- is organised and follows work through
- demonstrates valuable judgement and respects confidentiality
- enjoys working with clients and different personalities
- wants to build strong technical capability in workplace relations, investigations and HR advisory.
A completed or near-completed Diploma in Human Resource Management, or another relevant qualification, is preferred.
Previous HR experience is valuable but not essential. Experience in HR administration, coordination, payroll, business administration or another professional client-facing environment may also be relevant.
What you’ll get
You’ll work directly with experienced HR and IR practitioners and gain exposure to a breadth of workplace matters that can take much longer to access in a large organisation.
Development is practical and capability-based. You’ll start with work appropriate to your experience and progressively move into greater client contact, more complex work and increased ownership as your capability develops.
Our aim is to develop a capable consultant who can progressively take greater ownership of client work.
