About the role

Reporting to the Director of Policy and Research, you will lead policy development and evidence synthesis across nursing and midwifery education, regulation and workforce issues. You will produce authoritative advice, submissions and position papers; commission and translate research; help inform accreditation standards; and build productive relationships across government, regulators, education providers, health services and professional bodies. This is not an academic research role. ANMAC needs someone who can move confidently from evidence to a clear policy position, understand the practical and regulatory implications, and communicate them to senior and diverse audiences.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and review policy frameworks, submissions, briefings, position statements and reports.
- Monitor policy, legislative and regulatory developments and advise on their implications for nursing and midwifery education and practice.
- Undertake environmental scans, literature reviews, gap analyses and stakeholder consultations.
- Help identify research priorities and establish partnerships with universities and research centres to commission targeted work.
- Translate complex evidence into accessible advice that can inform accreditation standards, advocacy and organisational decisions.
- Represent ANMAC in external forums and build relationships across government,



Ahpra and national boards, education providers, health services, peak bodies and professional associations.
- Work closely across Accreditation Services and Skilled Migration Services so policy and research respond to real organisational and sector needs.
- Potential future acting and succession opportunities within the Policy and Research function.

About you

- A nursing or midwifery background and current registration are strongly preferred.
- ANMAC will also consider candidates from adjacent health professions who bring strong policy capability and relevant regulatory or sector experience.
- Demonstrated policy experience, particularly the ability to research an issue and translate the evidence into clear, high-quality policy advice, submissions or position papers.
