Summary
Our client 118 Kovenant is a vibrant café and restaurant in Pooraka, South Australia, bringing authentic Filipino flavours and warm hospitality to the local community. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner alongside coffee and beverages, our client is seeking to add a Chef to prepare high-quality Filipino dishes, support kitchen operations and maintain consistent food preparation and presentation standards.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Prepare and cook authentic Filipino dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
• Prepare traditional Filipino meat, poultry, seafood, vegetable and rice-based dishes to consistent quality standards.
• Plan and organise daily food preparation requirements to support productive breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
• Monitor ingredient quality, freshness and portion sizes throughout food preparation and service periods.
• Prepare sauces, marinades, stocks and accompaniments required for traditional Filipino menu items.
• Maintain consistent flavour, texture and presentation across all dishes prepared during each service period.
• Assist with menu planning and development of Filipino dishes suited to customer preferences.
• Monitor food stock levels and coordinate ingredient requirements to minimise shortages and unnecessary wastage.
• Check delivered food products for quality, freshness and suitability before storage or preparation.
• Maintain clean, organised and hygienic kitchen workstations in accordance with food safety requirements.
• Ensure appropriate food storage, temperature control, labelling and rotation procedures are consistently followed.
• Coordinate cooking activities with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and service.
• Train and guide kitchen staff in food preparation methods, recipes and presentation requirements.
• Follow workplace health, safety and hygiene procedures throughout all food preparation and cooking activities.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
• At least Cert IV in cookery or Kitchen management or equivalent, or higher.
• Minimum 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience working as a Chef or in a closely comparable professional kitchen role.
• Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience preparing authentic Filipino cuisine, including traditional dishes, flavours and cooking techniques.
• Strong food preparation and cooking skills with the ability to maintain consistent quality during busy service periods.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, storage, temperature control and safe kitchen operating procedures is essential.
• Ability to organise food preparation, manage competing priorities and complete dishes efficiently within required service timeframes.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with kitchen colleagues and coordinate preparation activities during breakfast, lunch and dinner services.
• Ability to monitor ingredient quality, control portions, minimise food wastage and maintain appropriate kitchen stock levels.
• Strong attention to flavour, presentation and consistency when preparing Filipino dishes to established restaurant standards and recipes.
