Burnside Library, located within the Burnside Civic Centre on the corner of Greenhill and Portrush Roads, is one of South Australia's oldest public libraries, having opened in 1961. The library plays an important role in connecting and supporting the local community through its services, resources, and programs.

The Role

Maxima, in partnership with the City of Burnside, is seeking an energetic and empathetic individual to undertake a Business Traineeship within the Community Learning team.

As a Library Officer Trainee, you will assist in delivering high-quality, customer-focused library services and support community engagement initiatives.

Throughout this 18-month full time traineeship, you will gain practical experience, receive paid training, and work towards a nationally recognised Certificate III in Business.

The successful candidate will be based at Burnside Library, working a 38-hour per week roster across Monday to Sunday within the library's operational hours, which run Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 9:30am to 6:00pm, Thursday until 9:00pm, Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and Sunday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

Duties Include





- Undertake a range of library and community service activities including loans and returns, reservations, shelving, and membership registrations
- Provide outstanding customer service to library patrons
- Assist customers with accessing technology including internet facilities, printers, scanners, and online databases
- Provide support to the Toy Library and Technical Services teams within the library

- Physically capable of standing for periods of time and undertaking manual handling tasks

Role Requirements

- Flexibility to work a variety of rostered hours
- National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and NDIS Worker Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a pre-employment medical assessment
- Previous customer service experience is desirable
