Machinist / Workshop Supervisor

Location: Bayswater (moving to South Guildford - December), Perth WA

Practon Mining is a valve and engineering specialist supporting mining and industrial clients across WA. We’re a small, growing team that gets called when a practical or “out of the box” solution is required. We’re evolving and want someone who is keen to join us for the journey.

The role – hands on, not just a desk

You’ll be on the tools, running the workshop, scheduling work and your team and working directly with clients. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, ownership, and figuring things out.

You’ll be doing things like:

- Manual machining and lathe work on valve components

- Working with large equipment and setting up jobs safely and accurately

- Planning and supervising day-to-day workshop tasks – QA, workflow, quoting

- Overseeing valve repair, modification and assembly

- Speaking with clients to clarify jobs, offer practical solutions and give updates

- Coaching and guiding trades assistants/apprentices

You

You’re practical, highly organised, steady, and take pride in doing things properly. .

You’ll likely have:





- Trade qualification as a Machinist / Fitter Machinist (or similar)

- Strong manual machining and lathe skills, comfortable with bigger equipment

- Some experience leading others (or you’re clearly ready to step up)

- Mining / heavy industrial background (nice to have, not essential)

- Good communicator – happy to pick up the phone and talk to clients

- experience scheduling and prioritising work in a busy setting
