Our Teacher Pathway Program provides pre-service teachers with the opportunity to bridge the gap between university study and the classroom, gaining meaningful practical experience while developing their professional skills and confidence.

What does the program involve?

Successful participants will be employed as a paid Teacher Aide one day per week for the full 2027 school year, providing an opportunity to become part of the St Rita’s College community while continuing their teaching studies.

As part of the program, you will:

- Gain hands-on experience in a school environment, working alongside experienced teachers and supporting students in the classroom

- Develop your understanding of effective teaching, classroom practice and student learning

- Gain experience relevant to your preferred teaching areas and year levels

- Meet regularly with a dedicated school-based mentor who will support your professional development

- Develop your qualified confidence, communication and classroom skills

- Gain insight into the broader life of a school, including co-curricular, pastoral and community activities

- Build professional relationships and networks as you prepare for your future teaching career

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from enthusiastic and committed pre-service teachers who are eager to learn, contribute and develop their practice in a supportive school environment.

Preference may be given to applicants with teaching areas in:

- Religion

- Business, Accounting or Economics

- Science

- Mathematics

- Design Technologies

Applicants from other teaching areas are also encouraged to apply.

About you

You will be someone who:

- Is currently undertaking an approved teaching degree

- Is passionate about education and working with young people

- Is keen to develop practical classroom experience alongside your university studies

- Demonstrates initiative, professionalism and a willingness to learn

- Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team

- Is committed to contributing positively to a school community

All staff must hold a valid Paid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) prior to commencement.

- What you hope to learn and develop through the program

- Your availability to work one day per week during the 2027 school year
