Business Development Manager
Specialist thin-metal manufacturing | New business growth | Burleigh Heads
Sell specialist capability, open new markets and help shape Mastercut's next stage of growth.
Mastercut Technologies is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to build new customer revenue across four established business areas: metal signage and labels; precision laser-cut and Photo Chemical Machined parts; laser-cut stencils for PCB manufacturers; and standard and custom shims.
Mastercut is not an average laser-cutting company. We specialise in thin and ultra-thin metal processing, precision cutting and specialist folding for customers whose requirements demand more than general fabrication.
The opportunity
Based at our Burleigh Heads operation, you will work closely with the Business Unit Manager, estimating, operations and quality teams. Your first priority will be learning our products, specialist processes and the applications they solve. You will then build target-account plans, open new conversations across a wide range of industries, generate well-qualified RFQs and convert opportunities into sustainable revenue.
This role suits someone who enjoys opening doors and developing new business. It is not a position built around maintaining an inherited portfolio.
What you will be selling
Metal signage and labels: Metal signs, nameplates, plaques, machine identification and labels using laser cutting, acid etching, paint filling and folding.
Precision parts: Thin and ultra-thin components produced by laser cutting or PCM, including fine mesh, filters, encoder wheels, shielding, antennae, clips and intricate formed parts.
PCB stencils: Locally manufactured high-precision solder paste stencils for PCB manufacturers and electronics assemblers, with clean cutting and rapid turnaround.
Shims: Standard, in-stock and custom precision shims for alignment, spacing, machinery, maintenance and critical industrial applications.
What you will do
- Identify and engage suitable new customers across Mastercut's four core business areas.
- Research industries and applications where thin-metal expertise, fine detail, tight tolerances, specialist folding or rapid local supply solve a real problem.
- Build and manage prioritised prospect lists and a qualified sales pipeline.
- Use direct outreach, referrals, networking and LinkedIn Sales Navigator to create conversations.
- Meet customers to understand their application, materials, thicknesses, tolerances, quantities, forming, finishes, delivery needs and upcoming projects.
- Work with estimating, operations and quality to prepare accurate, responsive proposals.
- Progress RFQs and opportunities through disciplined follow-up and clear next actions.
- Maintain accurate forecasts and report on pipeline, wins, losses and market feedback.
- Use HubSpot CRM to record customer interactions, manage opportunities, schedule follow-up and maintain accurate pipeline information.
- Represent Mastercut professionally and build long-term credibility in our target markets.
What you will bring
- A proven record of personally winning new B2B customers, ideally in manufacturing, engineering or technical services.
- Confidence prospecting and starting conversations with engineers, procurement teams and business leaders.
- Commercial judgement and the discipline to qualify opportunities rather than chase every enquiry.
- Technical curiosity and the ability to learn materials, specialist manufacturing processes and customer applications.
- Strong follow-up, organisation, pipeline management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using CRM systems; experience with HubSpot is highly desirable.
- A collaborative style and respect for operational capacity, quality requirements and delivery commitments.
- A current driver's licence and full Australian working rights.
Experience in defence, aerospace, electronics or PCB manufacturing, precision components, industrial maintenance, signage, sheet metal, laser cutting, Photo Chemical Machining or another technical manufacturing environment will be highly regarded. It is not essential if you bring strong technical sales capability, disciplined recent-business behaviour and the ability to learn.
Why Join Mastercut?
- Competitive salary with comprehensive benefits package, including work vehicle, laptop and telephone.
- Annual Sales Performance Incentive - uncapped above targets.
- Opportunity for long-term career growth with a highly regarded company, combine with Marsh Alliiance we have a 70-year history in Queensland.
