We are seeking experienced Solution Architects / Technical Assurance professionals to support a major Australian Government Defence environment.

This is a senior technical architecture and assurance role focused on ensuring infrastructure, platform, hosting, data centre and cloud solutions are secure, supportable, resilient and aligned with enterprise architecture and technical standards.

The role will provide independent technical assurance across existing and proposed technology solutions, support architecture governance and design review processes, and provide practical recommendations to manage technical risk, technology lifecycle and operational sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide independent architectural oversight and technical assurance across infrastructure, platform, hosting, data centre and cloud environments.

- Review and assure solution architectures, technical designs and implementation approaches.

- Assess proposed technology changes, enhancements, projects and technology refresh activities against relevant architecture, security and technical requirements.

- Identify architectural risks, technical debt, technology obsolescence, lifecycle issues and supportability concerns.

- Provide recommendations to mitigate technical risks and improve the resilience and sustainability of ICT services.

- Provide technical assurance for cloud adoption, migration and modernisation initiatives.

- Review resilience, availability, recoverability and disaster recovery considerations within proposed and existing solutions.

- Support architecture governance forums, design authorities and technical review processes.

- Develop, maintain and review architecture documentation, technical standards,



design patterns and technology roadmaps.

- Conduct architecture compliance and technical assurance assessments.

- Provide specialist advice relating to infrastructure lifecycle management, technology refresh, data centre services and cloud transition.

- Support technical audits, assurance activities and compliance reviews through technical analysis and risk assessment.

- Work collaboratively with technical teams, business stakeholders, service providers and other architecture functions.

- Provide clear, evidence-based technical recommendations to support senior decision-making.

Essential Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect, Infrastructure Architect, Cloud Architect or similar senior architecture professional.

- Robust experience in technical architecture, design review and/or independent technical assurance.

- Broad understanding of infrastructure, platform, hosting, data centre and cloud technologies.

- Experience supporting architecture governance, design authority or technical review processes.

- Robust understanding of ICT security, technical standards, lifecycle management and operational supportability.

- Demonstrated ability to identify and manage technical risks, technical debt and technology obsolescence.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.





- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Experience working within complex, highly regulated or security-sensitive environments.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal technical teams and external service providers.

Desirable Experience

- Previous experience working within an Australian Government or Defence setting.

- Experience working with Defence architecture, engineering or cyber security requirements.

- Experience across cloud migration, modernisation or technology transformation.

- Experience with data centre infrastructure and platform services.

- Experience supporting formal architecture review boards or design authorities.

- Experience working within classified or security-sensitive ICT environments.

Security and Working Arrangements

- Current NV2 security clearance is required.

- Canberra-based engagement, with attendance at Defence premises as required.

- Remote working may be available subject to client approval and applicable security requirements.
