Financial Controller

Our client is an industry-leading engineering firm delivering complex projects across infrastructure, commercial and industrial sectors. They have a strong reputation for technical excellence and long-standing client relationships. The business is going through a period of growth and investing in its people and systems.

Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will lead the financial accounting and reporting function, ensuring accurate, timely financial information and robust governance across the business. You'll lead a finance team, own the month-end and year-end processes, and partner with project and operational leaders to improve financial performance and project cost control.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the month-end and year-end close, including management accounts, board reporting and statutory financial statements
- Oversee revenue recognition on long-term contracts including WIP
- Partner with project and operational leaders on project financial performance, forecasting, margin tracking and cost control
- Annual budget, rolling forecasts and cash flow management, including working capital.
- Manage the external audit, tax compliance (GST, FBT, payroll tax, income tax) and the internal control framework




- Lead and develop the finance team while driving process improvement and system enhancements

About you

- CA or CPA qualified
- Experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure or project-based environments
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly revenue recognition on long-term contracts
- Proven experience leading and developing finance teams
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- A hands-on, commercially minded approach and a focus on continuous improvement
