Finwell Support is a not-for-profit organisation providing free, confidential financial counselling and wellbeing support to farmers, primary producers and eligible small businesses. Our service footprint is in Western and North West Victoria, where our teams work directly with people facing financial pressure, business change, disaster and recovery.

About the role

Directors contribute to strategy, governance and organisational oversight while respecting the distinction between the Board and management. The commitment includes preparation for and participation in at least four Board meetings each year, attendance at meetings held across Western Victoria, and relevant committee work.

Key responsibilities

- Set and monitor strategic direction, organisational performance and long-term sustainability

- Oversee financial performance, risk, compliance, service quality and the use of public and charitable funds

- Contribute independent judgement, constructive challenge and collective decision-making

- Support sound governance during changing regional conditions, disasters and periods of service demand

About you

- A clear understanding of a director's duties and commitment to Finwell Support's charitable purpose

- Strategic thinking and the discipline to govern without moving into operational management

- Integrity, respectful contribution, independence of judgement and collective responsibility

- Capacity to prepare for meetings, travel within the service area when required and participate actively in Board and committee work

- Technology, data governance, cyber risk,



digital systems or responsible use of artificial intelligence

- Client-centred community services, counselling, safeguarding, skilled practice or service quality

- Work health and safety, including psychosocial risk and Board assurance

- Disaster response, organisational continuity, community recovery or resilience

- Contemporary governance, risk, legal, finance, workforce or strategic leadership experience

- Minimum four meetings per year - held across the Western Victorian region (including both face to face and online)

Remuneration

Directors receive sitting fees. Approved travel expenses are reimbursed.
