My Place is an established provider of individualised and flexible supports for people with disability, their families, and young people in out-of-home care. My Place is a registered Out of Home Care and NDIS provider.

Our approach is centred around supporting people to live ordinary, meaningful lives within their homes and communities. My Place does not operate group homes, day centres or other congregate care services.

About the Role

We currently support a beautiful 4-year-old girl living with her foster family in Aveley, and we are looking for a warm, caring and dedicated family to welcome her into their home for regular respite.

Respite would generally occur from Friday through to Monday on a fortnightly basis, with payment of $450 per 24-hour period.

She is a gorgeous little girl with a big personality who communicates through her body language, facial expressions and vocalisations. Someone who is patient, attentive and curious about getting to know her unique communication style will thrive in supporting her.

Due to her complex support needs, the successful applicant will need to feel comfortable learning and providing a range of supports, including:

• Personal care

• PEJ feeding

• Medication administration

• Seizure management

• Manual handling, positioning and repositioning

• Dysphagia and mealtime management

Full training and competency assessment in her individual support needs will be provided as required.

We would love to hear from a family who can provide a protected, nurturing and welcoming home environment where she can enjoy time away from her usual home, build meaningful relationships and have opportunities to participate in everyday family and community life.

Flexibility is also an important part of this role. Due to her complex medical needs,



there may be times when she requires admission to hospital and planned respite arrangements need to change. Where possible, we are looking for someone who can be flexible with respite dates and work collaboratively with the foster family and My Place to adjust planned respite to assist with hospital cover and provide support when it is most needed.

Experience supporting children or young people with disability, complex medical needs or within a trauma-informed environment would be highly regarded. Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who is warm, reliable, flexible, confident, communicative and genuinely interested in building a positive and consistent relationship with her.

Applicants must have, or be able to obtain prior to commencing:

- Current driver's licence

- NDIS Worker Screening Check

- NDIS Worker Orientation modules

- Working with Children Check (WWC Check)

Preferred Experience

Experience in any of the following areas would be highly regarded:

- Seizure management

- Enteral feeding

- Medication administration

- Manual handling

- Personal care

- Dysphagia and mealtime management

- Supporting children with complex disability or medical needs

- Trauma-informed support
