Following the retirement of the incumbent, Meals on Wheels SA is seeking an experienced corporate governance professional to provide high-level secretariat and governance support to our Board, Board Committees and Executive Leadership Team.
This pivotal role serves as the organisation's Board Secretary, Legal Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer, ensuring the highest standards of governance, compliance and administrative support across the organisation.

Operating through more than 80 branches across the state and supported by approximately 6,000 volunteers and 150 employees, we deliver over 1.1 million nutritious meals and wellbeing checks to more than 12,000 South Australians each year.

About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Board Secretary plays a key role in supporting effective governance and organisational performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing Board and Committee meeting administration, including agendas, papers, minutes and action tracking
- Providing expert governance advice and support to the Board, CEO and Executive Leadership Team
- Coordinating regulatory compliance obligations and statutory reporting requirements
- Acting as the organisation's Legal Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer
- Maintaining governance frameworks, policies and registers
- Supporting the implementation of sound governance, risk and compliance practices
- Ensuring secure and confidential management of governance documentation and records
About You
You are an experienced governance qualified with exceptional organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to build trusted working relationships with senior stakeholders.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Extensive knowledge of corporate governance principles and regulatory compliance requirements
- Experience supporting Boards, Committees and senior executives
- Strong understanding of governance and risk management frameworks
- Exceptional written communication skills, including the preparation of concise, accurate minutes and governance documentation
- Outstanding attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
- Highly developed planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement
- An appreciation of the important role volunteers play in community-based organisations
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Qualifications in governance, company secretarial practice, law, business, public administration or a related discipline
- Governance Institute of Australia qualifications or equivalent
- Experience with Board portal software and electronic document management systems
- Experience fulfilling obligations associated with an Australian Registered Body and ASIC reporting requirements
- Experience within the not-for-profit, community services, health or aged care sectors
A current National Police Clearance is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
