A leading financial markets firm is looking for a Surveillance Officer / Manager to join its Sydney team.

Join a high-performing setting where surveillance, data and technology come together. You'll work closely with Trading, Risk, Compliance and Technology teams while helping build more automated and data-driven surveillance capabilities.

This role sits at the intersection of market surveillance, data analytics and technology, with a solid focus on improving and automating surveillance processes.

We're looking for someone with 2–8+ years' experience in trade or market surveillance, who is comfortable working with large datasets and has an interest in using technology and AI to make surveillance more efficient and effective.

The Role
Conduct trade and market surveillance, investigating unusual trading activity and potential market conduct risks.
Analyse large datasets and market data to identify patterns, anomalies and emerging risks.
Build and automate surveillance processes,



reporting and analytical tools.
Work with data feeds to streamline and improve surveillance efficiency.
Leverage AI, automation and technology to enhance surveillance capabilities.
Develop and refine surveillance scenarios, controls and monitoring methodologies.
Partner with Compliance, Risk, Technology and Trading teams to continuously improve the surveillance framework.

About You
2–8+ years' experience in trade surveillance, market surveillance or a related surveillance role within financial markets.
Solid understanding of trading activity and market conduct.
Strong analytical and investigative skills.
Experience working with large datasets and trading/market data.
SQL, Python or other coding experience highly desirable.
Experience with automation, reporting or process improvement is advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
A proactive approach to improving surveillance processes and controls.
