We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Technical Lead to support the development, maintenance, and modernisation of enterprise mainframe applications within a large-scale technology environment. The role will provide technical leadership across complex application landscapes, supporting system enhancement, integration, and delivery while mentoring development teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a 12-month full-time contract role based on-site in Darwin, NT.
What You'll Do
Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise mainframe applications and supporting systems
Provide technical leadership across complex application environments and system integrations
Plan, coordinate, test, and deliver system releases across development, test, and production environments
Provide Level 3 technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for business-critical applications
Support mainframe modernisation initiatives involving legacy and web-based technologies
Develop and maintain technical, operational, and procedural documentation
Provide technical advice, risk identification, and escalation support to stakeholders and management
Mentor and guide development teams, supporting capability uplift and best practice delivery
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and customer-focused ICT solutions
What You'll Bring




Extensive experience across the full application development lifecycle within enterprise mainframe environments
Robust expertise in mainframe technologies including COBOL, CICS, TSO, QMF, ISPF, JCL, DB2, SQL, EGL, and BIRT
Experience with mainframe modernisation tools and practices, including Rocket LegaSuite products
Knowledge of web development technologies including XML, HTML, JavaScript, .NET, and Sitecore
Proven experience delivering complex application releases and managing deployments across multiple environments
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities within large-scale application environments
Experience developing and maintaining enterprise application codebases and technical documentation
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear technical guidance and recommendations
Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring development teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives
