About the Role
This is a hands-on Production Engineer role embedded within a high-performance trading setting in Sydney. You'll operate across trading infrastructure and data platforms, owning the stability and performance of systems that directly impact live trading.
The role blends production support with engineering: diagnosing complex issues in real time while building automation and tooling to eliminate them permanently. You'll work closely with traders, quants, and engineers, gaining deep exposure to how systematic trading systems operate end-to-end.
Responsibilities
Own production environments supporting trading systems and data platforms, ensuring high availability and performance
Troubleshoot real-time issues across trading applications, data pipelines, and infrastructure
Perform pre-market system checks and proactively identify risks before trading begins




Partner with developers and trading teams to resolve pre-trade and production issues
Support application releases, including deployment validation and rollback strategies
Build automation tools for monitoring, alerting, and operational workflows
Improve data integrity processes across static and real-time datasets
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, cloud initiatives, and system optimisation projects
Lead root cause analysis for incidents and implement long-term fixes
Maintain clear operational documentation and adhere to production best practices
Requirements
3+ years in production support, SRE, or systems engineering (ideally in trading, fintech, or low-latency environments)
Strong scripting ability in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
Solid experience across Linux and Windows environments
Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL, SQL Server or similar) with experience debugging data issues
Experience supporting trading systems, market data, or financial infrastructure
Ability to diagnose complex, cross-system issues under pressure
Strong communication skills with a high level of ownership
Nice to have:
Exposure to AWS or cloud-based infrastructure
Experience with CI/CD and automation tooling
Interest in crypto markets or digital assets
Background in highly distributed or real-time systems
