About the role
An exciting prospect exists for a highly skilled and strategic leader to influence the future strategic direction of finance at the Department.
Reporting to the Director, you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Finance's strategic policy framework, ensuring the Department's financial management approach remains contemporary, evidence-based and aligned to organisational priorities.

About you
You are a strategic thinker and experienced people leader with a strong background in policy development, strategy, financial management or public sector governance. You thrive in complex environments and can confidently navigate competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Experience leading strategy, policy, governance or financial management initiatives in a complex environment.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop evidence-based recommendations.
Experience providing strategic advice to senior executives and influencing decision-making.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation skills.
Proven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
Strong project management skills and the ability to deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Key knowledge and experience
Extensive experience leading policy research, development and maintenance.
Extensive experience in stakeholder management, including building strong relationships and influencing / negotiation
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's
Aboriginal Education Policy
and upholding the
Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG
and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
Qualifications in a relevant discipline or proven equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the v
alue of public education
