Working closely with the Maintenance Superintendent and broader teams, you'll drive improvement initiatives, optimise equipment through modification, and strengthen maintenance strategies across the plant. You will lead engineering design and reliability initiatives across mechanical, civil, structural and services systems. You'll play a critical role in ensuring equipment is safe, fit-for-purpose, and operating at optimal performance.
What you will be doing:
Investigating equipment reliability issues and implementing long-term corrective actions
Acting as the engineering authority on equipment safety and design integrity
Developing and improving preventative and condition-based maintenance strategies
Identifying and delivering plant improvement and optimisation initiatives
Scoping and delivering CAPEX projects, from concept to commissioning
Leading condition monitoring programs to improve asset reliability
Supporting plant shutdowns with engineering input and oversight
Coordinating inspections and translating findings into practical solutions
Maintaining engineering and maintenance documentation
Mentoring engineers and supporting team capability development
Collaborating with operations and maintenance teams to prioritise work

What you will bring:
Strong leadership skills with a hands-on, accountable management style
Experience in manufacturing production and planning environments
Sound knowledge of safety systems, hazard management, and safety culture
Proven ability to lead large teams and manage performance effectively
Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
Experience driving lean initiatives and continuous process improvement
Steel reinforcing or unionised workforce experience highly regarded
