We're looking for an experienced Lead Front End Developer to take technical ownership of the frontend delivery of a major finance platform rebuild from the ground up.

This is a hands‐on leadership role for someone who genuinely comes from a frontend engineering background. You'll lead a small team of Frontend Engineers while remaining close to the code, owning frontend architecture, solution design, code reviews, technical standards and the overall quality of what gets shipped.

You'll work closely with UX/UI, engineering, delivery and client stakeholders to turn complex requirements and designs into fast, scalable and polished digital experiences.

The initial project is expected to run for 12 months, with the potential to extend to 18 months.

Lead Front End Developer – React

What You'll Be Doing
n
n
Lead the frontend delivery of a large-scale finance platform rebuild
n
Provide technical direction to a small team of local and offshore Frontend Engineers
n
Remain hands‐on with React and TypeScript, contributing to production code alongside the team
n
Own frontend architecture, solution design,



technical standards and development best practices
n
Conduct code reviews and support/mentor engineers across the project
n
Work closely with UX/UI teams to translate complex designs and interactions into high-quality digital experiences
n
Collaborate directly with client engineering and business stakeholders to understand problems and design appropriate technical solutions
n
Make sensible technical decisions around scalability, maintainability, performance and security
n
Help establish reusable frontend patterns, components and engineering standards
n
Improve web performance across areas such as rendering, assets, caching, scripts and images
n
Use tools such as Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights to identify and address performance issues
n
Help drive the intelligent use of AI-assisted development across the engineering workflow
n
Contribute to CI/CD, repositories, deployment processes and overall engineering quality
n

What We're Looking For
n
The key thing for this role is solid, recent frontend engineering experience.
n
Ideally, you'll bring:
n
n
Extensive commercial React experience. Commercial experience with Next.js, Vue/Nuxt would also be highly regarded
n
Strong TypeScript / JavaScript
n
Experience leading or technically guiding other Frontend Engineers
n
Strong understanding of frontend architecture and modern React development patterns
n
Experience remaining hands‐on while providing technical leadership
n
Strong code review, problem-solving and debugging skills
n
Experience building reusable components and scalable frontend applications
n
Good understanding of state management,



API integrations and asynchronous frontend applications
n
Strong appreciation of UX/UI, accessibility and responsive design
n
Experience with frontend testing and quality practices
n
Strong understanding of web performance and browser behaviour
n
Experience working with CI/CD and modern deployment practices
n
Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly with engineers, designers, delivery teams and clients
n
Practical experience using AI development tools and, importantly, the ability to critically review and validate AI‐generated solutions
n

You'll be joining an established Sydney-based digital technology business that designs and builds complex digital products for well‐known organisations across a range of industries.

The engineering environment is collaborative, fast‐moving and highly project‐focused. Teams work closely across engineering, UX/UI, product and delivery, with engineers given plenty of input into how solutions are designed and built.

There's a strong focus on modern engineering practices, frontend quality, performance and using AI effectively throughout the development lifecycle rather than simply adopting tools for the sake of it.
