We are seeking a casual Youth Worker to join our team and support delivery of a new Innovative 12-week program (STEP UP), an early intervention pilot program for children aged 8–12 in Deception Bay. This program focuses on emotional regulation, compassion and self-compassion, accountability, positive decision-making, teamwork and building strong peer connections within a school setting.

This role is ideal for someone who is warm, curious, open-minded, and willing to learn, and who enjoys working with children through play, creativity, and relationship-based practice. As a pilot program, the program will continue to evolve — making this a great opportunity to build experience, confidence, and professional capability.

In this role, you will:
n
n
Support and co-facilitate group sessions using games, movement, creative activities, and reflection
n
Build safe, respectful relationships with children in a trauma-informed, strengths- based way
n




Assist with individual check-ins and basic case management tasks - including case notes.
n
Learn to collaborate with families, schools, and community partners
n
Support other youth programs at the Neighbourhood Centre as needed
n
n
This role would suit someone who:
n
n
Has completed a qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, or similar
n
Has some experience (paid, placement, or volunteer) working with children aged 8–12
n
Has group work facilitation experience
n
Is flexible, confident, reflective and values empathy, patience, inclusion, and teamwork
n
Is interested in early intervention and social-emotional learning
n

Casual role (pilot program funded to June ****, with potential for ongoing funding)
n
3 days per week
n
Program delivery during school hours
n
n
