We are a well-established, privately owned specialist contracting business looking for a strong, practical leader to help run and grow our operations.
n
The business operates in a field-based, equipment-intensive environment with crews working across multiple projects.
n
We are looking for someone who can work closely with the Director, lead people well, make sound operational decisions and help improve the business in a practical and commercially sensible way.
n
The role
n
You will take increasing responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the business and play an important role in its continued growth.
n
The position will involve operations, people, clients and general business improvement.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Leading and supporting field crews and operational staff
n
Planning crews, equipment and upcoming projects
n
Making sure jobs are properly prepared before mobilisation
n
Solving operational issues quickly and practically
n
Building accountability while maintaining a solid team culture
n
Recruiting, developing and retaining good people
n
Improving productivity, utilisation and job performance
n
Managing routine client communication and project issues
n
Identifying unnecessary costs, downtime and inefficiencies
n
Helping develop supervisors and future leaders within the business
n
Working closely with the Director on growth and business improvement
n
Taking ownership of problems and seeing them through
n
n
Who we are looking for
n
The most important part of this role is leadership.
n
We want someone who is good with people, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-moving field environment.
n
You need to be able to build relationships with crews,



communicate professionally with clients and understand that good operational decisions also need to make commercial sense.
n
Experience managing people and operations in industries such as the following would be highly regarded:
n
n
Drilling or geotechnical services
n
Mining or mining services
n
Earthmoving or plant hire
n
Utilities
n
Environmental field services
n
Engineering or construction services
n
Other equipment and labour-intensive field businesses
n
n
Direct drilling experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
n
We are more interested in finding the right leader with solid people, operational and commercial skills than simply someone with industry experience.
n
