Bass Coast Landcare Network (BCLN) is seeking a motivated and practical
Invasive Species Team Member
to join our growing team.
n
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving practical problems and making a tangible difference to the environment. The role will involve on-ground control of invasive pest animals across the Bass Coast region and beyond, on both public and private land.
About Bass Coast Landcare Network n
BCLN is a community-focused natural resource management organisation working across the Bass Coast region. We deliver programs spanning natural resource management, sustainability, environmental education, community engagement, ecosystem restoration, pest animal control, indigenous plant production and strategic partnerships.
n
Our Invasive Species team works closely with landholders, community groups, government agencies and other organisations to deliver practical, landscape-scale pest animal management that protects biodiversity, agricultural assets and environmental values.
About the Role n
Working under the direction of the Invasive Species Coordinator and Invasive Species Officer, you will undertake and assist with on-ground control programs targeting
rabbits, foxes, feral cats and other invasive species
.
n
The successful applicant will be comfortable working independently in the field while contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive team setting.
n
This is a hands-on role requiring a willingness to work in remote areas and undertake fieldwork at various times, including
early mornings, late nights and weekends when required
.
Key Qualifications & Experience n
We are looking for someone with practical field experience and a genuine interest in invasive species management.
n
n
Practical on-ground pest animal control experience
n




Current Victorian A & B firearms licence and practical firearms experience
n
Current manual driver's licence
n
Ability to work independently and achieve outcomes
n
Sound understanding of workplace health and safety
n
Relevant qualifications and/or practical experience in conservation, land management, agriculture or a related field
n
Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to challenging field situations
n
Current Working with Children Check
n
Highly desirable: n
n

n
Soft-jaw and cage trapping
n
Pest animal spotlighting and thermal detection
n
Rabbit warren and fox den fumigation
n
Chainsaw operation
n
n
Applicants do not need to possess every desirable qualification or skill.
BCLN values practical experience, attitude and a willingness to learn, with opportunities for further training and development available.

You will need to be comfortable working outdoors in challenging conditions, confident working independently, and willing to develop your skills in invasive species management.
