Casual OOSH Educator – Responsible Person

Berkeley Vale Public School OOSH is a community-based, not-for-profit Before and After School Care and Vacation Care service located on the grounds of Berkeley Vale Public School.
n
We are seeking an experienced Casual OOSH Educator who is confident and capable of undertaking Responsible Person duties to join our supportive team.
n
This position would suit an experienced educator who enjoys working directly with school-aged children but is also comfortable taking on additional responsibility and providing leadership during shifts when required.
n
As a Responsible Person, you will work alongside our Director, Assistant Director and educator team to support the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the service. At times, you will be the Responsible Person in day-to-day charge when the Nominated Supervisor is not present.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Supervising and actively engaging with children in a safe, positive and supportive environment
n
Acting as the Responsible Person in day-to-day charge when required
n
Supporting the smooth operation of Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care sessions
n
Providing guidance and support to educators during shifts
n
Ensuring appropriate supervision and educator-to-child ratios are maintained
n
Supporting children's wellbeing, learning and development
n




Building positive relationships with children, families, staff and the school community
n
Responding appropriately to incidents, injuries, medical needs and behavioural concerns
n
Ensuring child safe practices, policies and procedures are followed
n
Supporting children with diverse needs and abilities
n
Completing required documentation and communicating important information to service management
n
Assisting with opening and/or closing procedures when rostered
n
Supporting compliance with the National Quality Framework, service policies and relevant legislation
n

Skill & Experience
n
n
Current NSW Working With Children Check
n
Previous experience working in OOSH, early childhood education and care, or a similar children's service
n
Demonstrated ability to confidently lead and support a team during a shift
n
Ability and willingness to undertake Responsible Person duties
n
Sound understanding of child safety, supervision and duty of care
n
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, or willingness to obtain
n
Solid communication, organisation and teamwork skills
n
Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions when managing incidents or challenging situations
n
Reliability, flexibility and a positive approach to working with children and colleagues
