About The Opportunity

My client is an established and growing construction business seeking an experienced Safety Manager to take a lead role across its project portfolio and broader safety function, with a planned commencement in January ****, or potentially earlier for the right person.
n
Working across Toowoomba and Brisbane, this is a senior position responsible for driving safety strategy, strengthening systems and supporting project teams to maintain consistently high standards across multiple construction environments.
n
The role requires regular travel between Toowoomba and Brisbane, so flexibility and a willingness to work across both locations is essential.
n
With a strong pipeline of work, this is an opportunity to have genuine influence over how safety is managed across a growing construction business while remaining connected to the realities of project delivery on site.

About the Role
n
Working closely with senior management, project teams, Site Managers and subcontractors, you will lead the implementation and continual improvement of WHS systems, processes and culture across the business.
n
This is not purely a compliance-focused role. You will provide visible leadership, practical guidance and support to ensure safety is embedded into everyday project delivery.

Your responsibilities

Leading WHS strategy,



systems and processes across multiple construction projects
n
Providing leadership, guidance and support to project and site teams
n
Driving a proactive, practical and accountable safety culture across the business
n
Conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments across Toowoomba and Brisbane projects
n
Monitoring compliance with WHS legislation, company systems and project requirements
n
Reviewing and improving safety policies, procedures and management systems
n
Supporting project teams with high-risk construction activities and appropriate control measures
n
Leading and supporting incident investigations, reporting and corrective actions
n
Identifying trends, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement
n
Delivering and overseeing safety training, toolbox talks and workforce education
n
Monitoring subcontractor safety performance and compliance
n
Providing accurate WHS reporting and advice to senior management
n
Working collaboratively with clients, contractors, consultants and other key stakeholders
n
Maintaining strong safety standards without losing sight of practical construction delivery
n

About You
n




You will be an experienced construction safety professional who can operate confidently at both management and site level.
n
You understand that strong safety leadership is about more than systems and paperwork - it requires credibility with construction teams, clear communication and the ability to influence behaviour and decision-making.
n
You will ideally bring
n
n
Relevant tertiary qualification or Certificate IV/Diploma in Work Health & Safety
n
Significant experience in WHS within the commercial construction sector
n
Previous experience in a Safety Manager, Senior Safety Advisor or similar senior safety position
n
Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation, regulations and construction requirements
n
Experience developing, implementing and improving WHS management systems
n
Robust understanding of construction methodology and high-risk construction activities
n
Demonstrated experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments
n
Strong leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills
n
Excellent written communication, reporting and documentation capabilities
n
A practical, solutions-focused approach to safety management
n
The ability to build credibility and strong relationships with people from site level through to senior management
n
Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly between Toowoomba and Brisbane
n
