Job Description
The Senior Psychologist is an experienced clinician to provide leadership as well as high-quality, evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to clients across the lifespan within Lumsden Psychology's multidisciplinary private practice. Services may be delivered through face-to-face, telehealth, outreach, individual and group formats according to client need, clinical appropriateness and service requirements. The Senior Psychologist is expected to practise with a high degree of skilled autonomy and clinical judgement while remaining actively engaged in Lumsden Psychology's collaborative and multidisciplinary model of care. In addition to maintaining a clinical caseload, the Senior Psychologist contributes to clinical leadership, quality improvement, clinical governance, service development and the professional growth of the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

Undertake comprehensive psychological assessments appropriate to the client's presenting needs and circumstances
n
Develop evidence-based psychological formulations and diagnostic impressions where clinically appropriate
n
Provide evidence-based psychological interventions appropriate to the client's presentation, developmental needs and treatment goals
n
Deliver individual and group psychological interventions
n
Regularly evaluate treatment progress and modify intervention plans according to clinical response, outcome measures and changing client needs
n
Apply advanced clinical judgement when working with clients with complex presentations and identify, assess, document and appropriately respond to clinical risk
n
Provide clinical supervision to members of the multidisciplinary team in accordance with relevant ethical, professional and clinical standards
n
Provide peer consultation, mentoring and professional guidance to psychologists and other clinicians as appropriate
n
Maintain accurate,



timely and comprehensive clinical records and prepare professional correspondence and psychological reports where clinically appropriate
n
Participate in clinical quality and service improvement activities and contribute to the development and review of clinical policies, procedures, resources and frameworks

About you
n
n
Highly developed knowledge and application of evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation and intervention
n
Demonstrated ability to independently manage a varied clinical caseload, including clients presenting with complex mental health, psychosocial, behavioural and health-related needs
n
Advanced clinical reasoning, formulation, treatment planning and risk assessment skills
n
Knowledge of contemporary psychological research and the ability to translate research evidence into clinical practice
n
Sound understanding of relevant legislation, professional standards, ethical obligations and regulatory requirements governing psychological practice
n
Experience working across the lifespan and an ability to adapt assessment and intervention to developmental stage, individual circumstances and client need
n
Experience working with clients experiencing psychological distress, mental illness, trauma, chronic illness, disability, injury, adjustment difficulties and/or complex psychosocial needs
n
Ability to provide psychological assessment and intervention using an evidence-based, trauma-informed and person-centred framework
n
Highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
n
Competence with electronic practice management systems, electronic health records and secure communication platforms
n
