Provide nursing support to the Skin Cancer Doctors in the efficient day-to-day clinical and procedural operations of the practice.
n
Responsibilities include assisting with skin cancer consultations and surgical procedures, scribing clinical notes, maintaining high standards of care, ensuring strict infection control, and delivering safe, compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support
n
n
Assist doctors with skin cancer consultations, biopsies, excisions, flap and graft procedures.
n
Prepare treatment rooms and surgical equipment prior to procedures.
n
Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control standards.
n
Perform wound care, suture removal, and dressing changes as directed.
n
Monitor patients pre- and post-procedure.
n
Provide post-operative instructions and patient education.
n
Document clinical notes accurately and promptly in patient records.
n
Manage and prepare specimens for pathology.
n

Procedural & Theatre Assistance
n
n
Set up and pack down procedure rooms.
n
Ensure surgical instruments are cleaned, sterilised, and stored correctly.
n
Maintain stock levels of clinical supplies and surgical equipment.
n
Ensure compliance with sterilisation and accreditation standards.
n




Assist with minor surgical procedures as first or second assistant.
n

Patient Care & Communication
n

Provide reassurance and professional support to patients.
n
Explain procedures and aftercare instructions clearly.
n
Manage patient flow to ensure smooth daily operations.
n
Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
n
n
Administrative Support
n
n
Assist with appointment coordination when required.
n
Support recall and follow-up systems.
n
Complete documentation for consultations and treatment plans, and records.
n
Contribute to practice quality improvement activities.
n
n
Compliance & Safety
n
n
Adhere to AHPRA standards and scope of practice for Enrolled Nurses.
n
Maintain current registration and CPD requirements.
n
Follow workplace health & safety guidelines.
n
Participate in infection control audits and clinical governance activities.
n
Report incidents and clinical risks appropriately.
n

Key Skills & Attributes

Experience in skin cancer, dermatology, or surgical nursing (training available).
n
Strong knowledge of infection control and sterile technique.

Qualifications & Requirements
n
n
Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse.
n
Minimum 6 months nursing experience required.
n
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
n
Previous experience in skin cancer or procedural setting (desirable)..
n
Must have full work rights in Australia—no sponsorship available
