Industrial Automation Engineer role focused on automation, software development and process optimisation to support commercial-scale STEM manufacturing ops.

The Industrial Automation Engineer will support the design, programming, commissioning and optimisation of industrial control systems.
n
Working closely with the Operational Technology Engineer, this role provides the interface between physical equipment and digital control systems.
n
Key focus on improving process safety, efficiency, stability and repeatability while minimising manual intervention.
n
Permanent Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Contribute to the design, development and maintenance of PLC software for industrial and research systems.
n
Contribute to the development and support of custom .NET/C# applications.
n
Assist with specification, procurement, installation and commissioning of control equipment.
n
Assist with implementation and support process automation.
n
Develop and maintain process monitoring tools, historian databases and dashboards.




n
Produce and maintain technical documentation.
n
Support continuous improvement, process optimisation and production scale-up activities.
n
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, safety and operational requirements.
n
Due to government restrictions, Australian citizenship and ability to gain NV1 security clearance is essential
n
n
Skills/experience:
n
n
Degree-qualified Engineer in Mechatronics, Biomedical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
n
Several years of post-graduate industry experience within engineering, automation or manufacturing environments.
n
Strong coding and software development capability is essential.
n
Experience with PLC programming and industrial process automation.
n
Experience with C#, WPF and Git.
n
Knowledge of any of the following; SCADA, HMI, Linux, Docker, InfluxDB, Grafana or industrial communications protocols would be advantageous.
n
Experience within STEM industries such as medical devices, advanced manufacturing or industrial technology environments highly regarded.
n
Solid communication, documentation and problem-solving skills.
n
Ability to work collaboratively while also operating autonomously.
n
