The Executive Officer reports to the Chair and Executive Committee and works alongside the Executive Assistant to support the long-term sustainability of the irrigation industry across the Border Rivers region. The role manages decision-making and advocacy processes efficiently and effectively.
Key responsibilities
Understand how the association's functions work together to operate as an effective member-based organisation
Engage regularly with members to build trust, understand their issues and concerns, and use those insights to influence policy decisions
Develop a explicit communication plan that promotes transparent, timely and proactive engagement with relevant parties
Listen to stakeholder perspectives to help shape BRFF's strategic direction and influence outcomes, particularly in political forums
Develop and implement a multi-tiered marketing strategy, using digital and other relevant channels to raise awareness of BRFF and members' positive contribution to society
Present BRFF as a progressive, member-based organisation that delivers value beyond direct member services
About you




Practical agricultural sector experience
Empathy required to work effectively with producers, government and industry stakeholders
Understanding of political and bureaucratic processes, particularly in natural resources
Experience influencing government decision-making
Strong marketing capability, including digital and social media
Strong relationship-building, advocacy, problem-solving and project management skills
About us
Border Rivers Food & Fibre is a member-based association formed in **** through the amalgamation of 10 water-user groups along the Dumaresq, Macintyre and Barwon rivers and Macintyre Brook in NSW and QLD. As an independent, non-political association, BRFF represents and advocates for members on water policy matters at all levels of government to support the long-term sustainability of the irrigation industry. It also promotes the significant contribution its members make to regional economic viability, employment and community wellbeing.
