A Technical Role, not a Traditional Sales Role

BC Coatings is seeking a Technical Coatings Representative to join our growing team.
n
This is not a traditional sales role. We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of coatings, surface preparation and application methods who can provide practical technical advice and build long-term customer relationships.
n
Success in this position comes from understanding customer requirements, solving problems and recommending the right solutions. Sales are a natural outcome of delivering value and technical expertise rather than the primary focus of the role.

About the Role
n
As a Technical Coatings Representative, you will become a trusted technical resource for our customers.
n
Working with an established customer base across a range of industries, you will visit customers and job sites, assess coating requirements, provide technical recommendations and help customers achieve the best possible outcomes from our products.
n
You will work closely with our technical, colour and production teams to ensure customers receive practical, effective solutions tailored to their specific applications.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Provide technical advice on coating systems, paints and associated products.
n
Recommend suitable coating systems based on substrate type, service environment, application method and desired finish.
n
Assist customers with product selection, surface preparation and application techniques.
n
Investigate and troubleshoot coating performance and application issues.
n
Conduct regular customer visits, site inspections and project reviews.
n
Build and maintain solid customer relationships through technical support and service.
n
Liaise with internal teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs.
n




Stay current with industry trends, coating technologies and application methods.
n
Identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes through alternative products or coating systems.
n
About You
n
You are technically minded, customer-focused and enjoy solving problems.
n
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
n
Experience within the industrial, protective, automotive, timber, marine or decorative coatings industry.
n
A sound understanding of coating systems, surface preparation and application requirements.
n
The ability to assess customer challenges and provide practical technical solutions.
n
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
n
Confidence explaining technical concepts to customers.
n
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
n
A proactive and self-motivated approach.
n
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
n
A current driver's licence.
n
Highly Desirable
n
Experience in a technical coatings, technical support or customer-facing industry role.
n
Knowledge of industrial paints, protective coatings, spray equipment and surface preparation.
n
Experience investigating coating failures and application-related issues.
n
Experience working with contractors, manufacturers, fabricators, cabinet makers, furniture manufacturers or other industrial customers.
n
