Superior Machinery Maintenance is looking for an experienced Workshop / Service Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our busy vehicle maintenance workshop in the Mt Isa region. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands cars and trucks, knows how a productive workshop should operate, and has the confidence to manage a team of approximately 10 technicians including apprentices. You will lead people, plan work, maintain high standards, communicate with customers and make sure the workshop runs efficiently and professionally.

Key responsibilities

Managing and supporting approximately 10 technicians including apprentices
n
Planning and allocating workshop jobs on a daily basisMonitoring workloads, job progress and technician efficiency
n
Conducting regular toolbox meetings
n
Ensuring technicians remain up to date with required manufacturer and brand training modules
n
Carrying out regular staff performance reviews and providing constructive feedback
n
Checking completed vehicles to ensure repairs have been carried out correctly and workmanship meets standards
n




Providing customers with regular updates on the progress of their vehicle
n
Monitoring quoted costs against actual repairs and contacting customers before proceeding with work that will exceed an approved quote
n
Overseeing the operation of the spare parts function including ensuring parts and stock are managed correctly and conducting regular stocktakes
n

About you

Experienced with cars and trucks
n
Comfortable leading technicians and apprentices
n
Highly organised and capable of managing multiple jobs at once
n
A strong communicator with both customers and workshop staff
n
Confident making decisions and holding people accountable
n
Commercially aware and conscious of labour efficiency, parts costs and job profitability
n
Focused on quality and customer service
n
Fair, consistent and qualified when managing staff
n
Proactive rather than waiting for problems to arise
n
Previous experience as a Workshop Manager, Service Manager, Workshop Foreman, Leading Hand or Senior Technician would be highly regarded
n
