Nicholls Transport is a growing, family-owned and operated transport business based in Heatherbrae, NSW, servicing clients across Newcastle, Maitland, Hunter Valley and Sydney with occasional interstate travel.

Due to continued growth and the addition of a new vehicle, we are looking for a reliable, motivated and experienced HR/HC Driver / Operator to join our team.
n
The successful applicant will primarily operate our tilt tray and may also operate our truck and trailer combination, transporting machinery, shipping containers, construction, mining and agricultural equipment, as well as a range of other freight.
n

About the Role
n
This is a hands-on driving and operating position suited to someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong work ethic and is willing to go the extra mile to get the job done safely and efficiently.
n
Key Skills:
n
n
Operating Tilt tray / Heavy vehicle
n
Safely loading, securing, transporting and unloading a variety of freight compliant with relevant regulations
n
Completing pre-start checks and maintaining vehicles and equipment to a high standard
n
Communicating effectively with management and customers to ensure deliveries are completed safely and on time
n
Following all fatigue management and NHVR requirements
n
Working independently while maintaining communication with the team
n
Ability to operate a variety of machinery
n
n
About You
n
We are looking for someone who is reliable, takes ownership of their work and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
n
The successful applicant will ideally have:
n
n
Current HR/HC driver's licence held for at least 2-3 years
n




Previous 2-3 years' experience operating a truck and trailer combination and/or tilt tray. Preferred but not essential.
n
Experience with load restraint and load management
n
Good knowledge of NSW roads and transport networks
n
Understanding of fatigue management and NHVR regulations
n
Current White Card (highly regarded/required where applicable)
n
Good driving record (RMS driving history printout may be required)
n
Ability to safely manoeuvre heavy vehicles in a range of environments
n
Strong attention to detail
n
Excellent communication skills and a reliable and punctual nature
n
A strong commitment to safety and following instructions
n
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role
n
Flexibility to work reasonable overtime and occasional weekends when required
n
Drug and alcohol testing may be required
n
n
Previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded, however, attitude and work ethic are just as significant to us as experience.
